Birth and family background

The newly elected Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman was born in 1972 in a middle-class family in Hyderabad, Sindh. His parents belonged to Aligarh. They have four brothers and three sisters. Hafiz Naeemur Rahman has three sons and one daughter Mashallah, two sons are also Hafiz Quran. His wife Shamila Naeem is a doctor and an active member of Jamaat-e-Islami. He lives in a rented house in Block A, North Nazimabad.

Education

Saved from Jamia Masjid Darul Uloom, Latifabad, Unit 10. He did his primary education from Noorul Islam Primary School, Hyderabad and matriculated from Allama Iqbal High School. After matriculation from Hyderabad, Hafiz Naeemur Rahman's family shifted to Karachi. He did Intermediate from Pakistan Ship Owners College. Hafiz Naeemur Rahman completed his B.E. in Civil Engineering from NED University, the leading teaching institution of the country. Later he did Masters in Islamic History from Karachi University.

Affiliation with Islamic Jamiat Talaba

During the student period, Jamiat-e-Islami became associated with the students and succeeded in establishing its identity as an active and dynamic student leader.

He was also arrested for raising his voice for student rights and jailed three times on different occasions. He was the moderator of Islami Jamiat Talaba Karachi and then Sindh Province Jamiat. In 1998, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman was elected as Nazeem-e-Ala, i.e. Central President, of the Islamic Jamiat-i-Talaaba. He was the chief moderator of Islamic Jamiat Talaba for two years.

Affiliation with Jamaat-e-Islami

After graduating from Jamiat-e-Islami, Hafiz Naeem-ul-Rehman joined Jamaat-e-Islami and entered practical politics. In the 2001 city government elections, he contested and won the election of deputy nazim from a union council in Karachi Central District. Hafiz Naeemur Rehman was also the Amir of Liaquatabad Zone, Naib Amir of Central District, General Secretary and Naib Amir of Karachi Jamaat-e-Islami. He was elected Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi in 2013.

As Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi

As Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman broke the stalemate in Karachi politics through extraordinary courage and dynamism. He started raising his voice against the problem of Karachi and against the ongoing abuses by the Sindh government. When no political party was ready to raise its voice for the various law and order situation in Karachi, K-Electric, NADRA issues and Bahria Town victims, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman and Jamaat-e-Islami became their voice.

In Karachi, Jamaat-e-Islami under the leadership of Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman launched the "Haqq Du Karachi Ko Tehreek" which proved to be a turning point in the politics of the city. And this movement became the most powerful voice of Karachi's rights. When the Sindh government took away the powers of the local bodies, in January 2022, a historic sit-in started outside the Sindh Assembly in the cold and rain under the open sky. This sit-in continued for 29 days, the Sindh government of the PPP signed an agreement to return the powers of the local bodies.

When local body elections were held in Karachi on 15 January 2023, Jamaat-e-Islami won more votes than all political parties. Jamaat-e-Islami would have been able to win the maximum number of union councils in the city had the state power not been used to alter the results. Despite the worst rigging, Jamaat-e-Islami won 87 union councils and 9 towns.

In the general elections of February 8, 2024, Karachi once again put full trust in Jamaat-e-Islami under the leadership of Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman and it was able to get more than eight lakh votes from the city and win many seats, but these seats were changed by changing the results in Form 47. were taken away. Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman left the seat declared as won by the Election Commission in these elections saying that he had lost to the opposing candidate by 1000 votes, so his conscience did not allow him to accept this seat. This amazing and bold move of his was well received not only in Pakistan but also in the international media. Political opponents also paid him a huge tribute. All unbiased surveys show Hafiz Naeemur Rahman as the most popular leader of Karachi at the moment.

Other services

Hafiz Naeemur Rahman established a very active and dynamic Public Aid Committee to solve the problems of the people of Karachi. Along with the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi, he also served as the President of "Al-Khidmat Welfare Society Karachi". He launched a free IT program for the youth called "Banoo Qual" which proved to be a revolutionary program of its kind and soon spread across the country. Thousands of youth in the city took free courses. Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman built a Banu Qabil campus in Noor Haq office of Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi, so it was also a unique event of its kind when hundreds of young people were seen going to the office of the political party every day to get education. In the same period, Al-Khidmat's state-of-the-art and world-class diagnostic center was completed at Nazimabad, Karachi. Al-Khidmat Karachi rendered unparalleled services during the devastating floods in Corona, Sindh and Balochistan.

Hafiz Naeemur Rahman is not only deeply interested in cricket but also fond of poetry and literature. Allama Iqbal has a keen eye on Urdu and Persian language. He is a memorizer of Quran, mesmerizing recitations and melodious recitations are his hidden attributes. Proficient in Urdu and English language. Hafiz Naeemur Rahman has visited various countries including China, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh, United Kingdom, Japan, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
