
Former Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Sirajul Haq has a long history, however, he was born on April 5, 1962 in village "Mirzo" of Shabqadar Tehsil, Charsadda District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Due to organizational responsibilities, he studied in various colleges such as Government Post Graduate College Mardan, Government Mardan Degree College, Government College Peshawar and Degree College Timrgarh, however, he did his BA from Government College Timrgarh and in 1983 he joined the student union from Degree College Timrgarh. Siraj-ul-Haq joined Jamaat-e-Islami immediately after graduating from "Islami Jamiat Talaba" and worked in his area for more than a year. He served as principal in Iqra School, Samarbagh, and also actively participated in movement activities and within a year became a regular member of Jamaat-e-Islami and held various responsibilities. Later, he was appointed Qeem Province (Secretary General) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and in 2003 he was appointed Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In April 2009, he was appointed as the Central Deputy Amir by the Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Syed Manwar Hasan, and he fulfilled this responsibility well. In March 2014, the members of Jamaat-e-Islami elected him as Ameer for the first time for 5 years and later in March 2019, Siraj-ul-Haq was elected as Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan for the second time for 5 years. Belonging to the middle class, Siraj-ul-Haq is quite popular in the movement and public circles due to his dervish and simple nature and mujahideen qualities. In the October 2002 elections, Sirajul Haq was also elected as a candidate for the provincial assembly from PK 95 Lower Dir from the platform of the Muttahida Majlis Amal, a coalition of religious parties, and served as a senior minister and finance minister in the Muttahida Majlis Amal provincial government. And he showed his ability, ability, trust and honesty to others. Under his leadership, 6 other ministers of Jamaat-e-Islami also showed exemplary performance and thus he emerged as an excellent team leader in the political field as well. In 2006, when there was a drone attack on a religious seminary in Duma Dola area of Bajaur on the fourth day of Eid, he resigned from his ministry in protest over the sad martyrdom of the seminary children. In the 2013 national elections, Siraj-ul-Haq was once again elected to the Lower Dir provincial seat and was appointed senior minister and finance minister for the second time in the coalition government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Jamaat-e-Islami and continued his performance in the ministry. After being elected as the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan for the first time, Sirajul Haque resigned from the provincial ministry in view of his nationwide organizational and political engagements and later won the Senate election from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in 2015 and served as a senator until 2021. He was the strong voice of the people's rights in the upper house. Siraj-ul-Haq was the provincial finance minister who introduced interest-free banking in the provincially managed Khyber Bank and presented a deficit-free surplus budget in both his terms. The net profit of crores of rupees was taken to the province in the form of electricity royalty from the Centre, tax was waived on houses up to five marlas. Not only did fees, uniform and books free for students up to matriculation but also fixed stipend for female students. Provided free emergency treatment in hospitals and along with all this, received a reward bonus of one and a half billion rupees from the Center for best financial management. Travel was his specialty. As a minister, he converted the official residence into a public secretariat instead of personal use and preferred to live in a rented house in Peshawar. Siraj-ul-Haq knows Urdu, Pashto and other regional languages as well as English, Persian and Arabic.
